Getting Started with the Pasturepal Recreational Feeder

The animal should be encouraged to move the feeder. We suggest that you place a few grains of sweet feed and/or pellets (or whatever is going to be used inside) on top of the Pasture Pal Feeder Drum and in the Feeder Tray bottom. The animal will associate the Pasture Pal Recreational Feeder with treats.

This will encourage foraging and ultimately moving the feeder to dispense some of the treats. This is for introduction only, they will get the idea very quickly.

Feed consumption is metered out over a period of time rather than all at once. The Pasture Pal is especially helpful for those horses that eat their food too rapidly. The Pasture Pal is excellent for those horses that like to nibble throughout the day.

You can easily observe and modify the rate of consumption with the Pasture Pal. Enlarging existing holes or creating additional holes will increase the flow of feed. Closing, by applying tape over the holes, will reduce the flow of feed.

The Pasture Pal Recreational Feeder allows for foraging in the natural feeding position at ground level. The Pasture Pal provides the ADDED BENEFIT OF A SAFE CLEAN PLACE FOR PELLETS, SWEET FEED, OR WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO DROP AND BE EATEN FROM. This feeder encourage additional busy benefits and some exercise while relieving boredom. This gives your horse something else to do in the stall or paddock besides playing with their Horseballs, to keep them occupied and to prevent boredom.

You may find it convenient to purchase more than one Pasture Pal Feeder Drum and fill them at the same time. You will always have one filled and ready.

The PasturePal™ is another great product from the industry leader in therapeutic recreation, Horseballs, Ltd.
